An Inter-House English Recitation Competition was held for the students of classes VI-VIII of G.D. Goenka Public School, Bahadurgarh, on 14th May, 2019. ‘Mother’ was the topic for the poems to be based on, as this event was in continuation to the chain of events organized to celebrate “Mother’s Day”. Rudrakshi Class VIB representing Vivekanand House and Priyanshi Class VIIA representing Teresa House bagged the 1st Position together, Mansi Class VIII from Radhakrishnan House stood 2nd and Nanika Class VIA also from Radhakrishnan House secured the 3rd position. Two consolation prizes were awarded to Priyansh Balyan VIA and Simran Ahlawat VIIA both of whom represented Tagore House. The event was judged by our Honorable Principal, Mrs. Shivani Sahni, who commended the pupils for their spontaneity and enthusiasm in showing deference to their mothers.
In continuation to the activities organized for celebrating “Earth Day” an Inter-House Hindi Recitation Competition for classes III-V in G.D. Goenka Public School, Bahadurgarh on May 14, 2019. The topic chosen for the poems was “Nature” to sensitize children about the blessings of Mother Nature on human life. The students from all the four Houses Zealously participated in the event judged by our Honorable Principal, Mrs. Shivani Sahni. The 1st position was bagged by Aarush of Class VA, who represented Tagore House. Arpit of Class VB, representing Vivekanand House stood 2nd and there was a tie between Ananya Class VB of Vivekanand House and Jai Vardhan Class IVA of Teresa House for the 3rd position. Safal Class VA from Radhakrishnan House was awarded a consolation prize.
“Danger is real but fear is a choice.” A workshop was conducted by Swayam to sensitize and help the students to understand various mental, emotional and physical risk situation in daily life and how to effectively deal with them. The resource person not only apprised the students about identifying the threat around them but also taught them many self-defense techniques. They taught the students to read the body language and react accordingly. The resource person advised students to maintain safe distance and how they can use hand strikes to protect themselves. The students enjoyed the workshop and learnt various techniques to be used at the time of risk.
G D Goenka Public School has organised a SHOW AND TELL COMPETITION for students of classes I & II to showcase the presentation skills of our juvenile toddlers. It is one of the simplest activities that young students can engage in, where the performer faces the rest of the class with an object and proceeds to show it while telling information about it such as where they got it, what it is used for and how it works etc. The Show and Tell Competition was held on 8th May, 2019 in the school premises. The topic was “My favourite Toy”. In this competition students brought a number of different toys like Car, Doll, Gun etc and used it in an innovative way to describe it with lot of confidence, facial expression and voice modulation. Principal of the school, Ms. Shivani Sahni was impressed by the way the children conducted themselves. While announcing the achievers, she congratulated each participant for the excellent effort put in and suggested various ways to improve the vocabulary and speaking skill in children.
