Van Mahotsav Week

The celebration was an ideal opportunity to instil the value of social responsibility in the students towards safeguarding trees and forests. The focus of the celebration was towards forming a personal connect between the students and trees and it was carried out through various activities. Teachers discussed the importance of the trees in the classrooms. Students of class I presented a special assembly to save trees and the tiny tots took a pledge to plant more trees. The toddlers of pre-primary section and classes I to III undertook kitchen garden plantation activity. They sowed coriander seeds. The purpose of the activity was to inculcate the habit of planting saplings by utilising small spaces available at home. In the busy cities open spaces are replaced by tall multi-storey buildings. There is urgent need to develop hanging gardens to improve the climatic condition. Keeping this in mind, the students from classes IV to VIII made hanging garden in the school premises. Students of classes VI to VIII participated in the rally on Najafgarh road to sensitize the local people about the importance of saving trees and growing more trees. Nukkad Natak depicting the importance of the trees was also staged in the market. Van Mahotsav week came up to be a great success. The events helped to bring awareness about the green cover around us. It also helped in strengthening the bond between plants and humans. Students got to learn a lot and will always cherish the memories of this important occasion.
